UN MODELLO DI SIMULAZIONE PER LA QUANTIFICAZIONE DEI BENEFICI DELLA FIDUCIA NELLE SUPPLY CHAIN DISTRETTUALI

Antonio Capaldo, Ilaria Giannoccaro

Abstract

Trust is a major governance mechanism in industrial district supply chains and has been credited of every sort of advantage in previous literature. However, extant research has focused on trust as a dyadic construct and has rarely addressed the issue of quantifying its benefits. To fill this gap, we focus on network-level trust in industrial district supply chains and advance a computational methodology based on NK simulation to quantify
the impact of the existence of supply chain trust on performance. The methodology advanced here can be useful to supply chain managers, and network managers more generally, to make informed decisions whether to invest or not in the development of trust across their supply chains (networks), as well as about possible changes in the overall architecture of their supply chains (networks). We apply our proposed methodology to a real supply chain within the leather sofa industrial district of Bari-Matera, located in Southern Italy.
